A Training and Learning Framework for the 2020’s

Change is always daunting and never more so than now!

Every size and type of organization is forging new pathways in communication, management, technology, training and culture. As expected, the results are mixed

Poorly managed change stresses everyone. When change and its purpose are unclear, leaders and teams stress about job security, layoffs of friends and co-workers, loss of status, concerns stemming from previous failures, and WIIFM (what’s in it for me?).

According to the Project Management Institute, 40% to 80% of Change Projects in the US fail every year. This results in organizations losing $109 million for every $1 billion invested in change projects and programs. And, yes, this number is pre-Covid. Today’s challenges of maintaining continuity, communication, enthusiasm, and productivity are tremendous.

The Crispian Advantage team help organizations craft and execute Change Projects that inform, engage and support all participants in embracing and realizing successful change.

The New Framework

Questions and engagement, not prescriptions.

  • We engage organizations in creating tailored approaches, processes and protocols suited to their needs and aspirations.
  • We specifically advocate engaging mid-level managers to enable them to develop and take ownership of change.
  • The continuity of alignment, action learning and coaching within the framework builds skills and confidence within the organization.
  • Stakeholder alignment is first and foremost, followed by agreed accountabilities, building collaboration, and establishing communication processes and channels.
  • Each step builds a path for purposeful, measurable and successful change.

Continuity. Alignment. Build Skills. Grow Profits.

I. Create Change Readiness – Organization Development
Readiness is rooted in the cultural and behavioral attributes of an organization. To prepare the field for change, we begin with alignment (top down and bottom up) and action learning, supported by coaching. We work with leaders to gain skills in leading to thrive.
II. Build an Engaged Focus – Strategy Development
Focusing begins with:

  • “How well is our what connected to our why?
  • How will implementing change gain competitive advantage?

Working with facilitated teams, further alignment is developed with leaders, the organization, and internal and external stakeholders. A clear picture of vision, mission, objectives and goals is created. The Change Project becomes actionable.

III. Execute Successfully – Project Implementation
Implementation begins with planning for and understanding why people resist change. Change Communication must be specific, including: Objectives and goals, leadership, people’s roles, expectation for each participant, specific plans and stages, measurement and rewards.

Alignment exercises bring three groups together, the sponsor and project manager, PMs and teams, and teams and stakeholders, so each group is on the same page. Coaching and supporting tools include project management, performance management, process improvement

Additional tools and coaching include change management, project management, performance management, process improvement and asset evaluation (i.e. processes, plant, equipment, tools, intellectual property).

IV. Speed. Intensity. Momentum!
Many training solutions do not sustain the intensity and momentum required to overcome the status quo. You need to:

  • Do different things throughout the company
  • Move with speed so that your changes are not mired in inertia or swept away by circumstance.
  • Move with intensity by focusing on doing a few new things excellently.
  • Build momentum by promoting early successes resulting from
